인류는 불안이라는 감정과 함께 생존해왔다. 물질적, 정신적 불안 속에서 각자의 욕망을 추구하며 생을 이어가는 개개인은 존재에 대한 확인과 미래에 대해 알고자 하는 욕구를 끊임없는 자아와의 소통, 종교, 반복 행위 등을 통해 해소하고자 한다. 그 과정에서 점성술이나 역학, 샤머니즘, 종교 등이 생겨나게 되어 오늘날까지 우리의 의식과 관습 속에 남아 있다. 작가는 샤머니즘과 우주론적 세계관을 조형 언어로 재해석하여 욕망의 의미를 고찰하고자 한다.

 

매일매일 반복되고 복사되는 보편적이고 기본적인 욕망들은 작품 속에서 패턴화 된다. 아무리 수줍고 의기소침해 보이는 사람일지라도 내면에는 자기 나름의 뜨거운 욕망이 잠재되어 있기 마련이다. 숨어 있는 욕망의 이야기들은 어떤 때는 슬프고 또 어떤 때는 웃음과 사랑이 있다. 요란스럽고 화려한 자신만의 욕망들을 마치 화려한 무늬의 카펫처럼 공간 안에 늘 머물러 있다고 생각하여 새로운 차원의 공간을 나타내었다. 미술의 기능적 측면에는 대리적 소원 성취의 기능이 있다. 이상향과 아름다움, 안정감을 나타내는 동시에 시점 불일치와 원근의 파괴, 그림자의 부재 등으로 비현실적인 모순을 한껏 드러내며 인간의 욕망에 대한 존재적 물음을 던지고자 한다.

Throughout history, humanity has coexisted with the emotion of anxiety. Amid material and psychological anxieties, individuals pursue their desires and continue their lives, seeking confirmation of existence and a desire to know the future. They seek to alleviate these anxieties through constant self-communication, religion, repetitive rituals, and other means. In this process, practices such as astrology, divination, shamanism, and religion have emerged and persisted in our consciousness and customs to this day. The artist aims to reinterpret the meaning of desire by utilizing shamanism and a cosmological worldview as a sculptural language.

 

Universal and fundamental desires that repeat and replicate every day become patterns in the artwork. No matter how shy or reserved someone may appear on the outside, they inevitably harbor their own passionate desires within. The stories of hidden desires can be sad at times, and at other times filled with laughter and love. Imagining the boisterous and vibrant personal desires as if they were colorful patterns on a carpet, the artist represents a new dimension of space. In the functional aspect of art, there is the function of fulfilling surrogate wishes. While portraying ideals, beauty, and a sense of security, the artwork also highlights surreal contradictions through temporal mismatches, perspective distortions, and the absence of shadows, posing existential questions about human desires.
