인류는 불안이라는 감정과 함께 생존해왔다. 물질적, 정신적 불안 속에서 각자의 욕망을 추구하며 생을 이어가는 개개인은 존재에 대한 확인과 미래에 대해 알고자 하는 욕구를 끊임없는 자아와의 소통, 종교, 반복 행위 등을 통해 해소하고자 한다. 그 과정에서 점성술이나 역학, 샤머니즘, 종교 등이 생겨나게 되어 오늘날까지 우리의 의식과 관습 속에 남아 있다. 본인은 삶에서 수천 번 생성과 소멸을 반복하는 욕망을 생에 대한 의지로 보고 샤머니즘과 우주론적 세계관을 바탕으로 각자의 욕망과 염원을 조형 언어로 재해석하고자 한다. 이전의 작업에서 모호한 욕망의 대상을 전면에 내세웠다면 이번 작업은 그 욕망을 구현하기 위해 만들어진 상징물과 형상화된 욕망에 집중한다. 구체적으로 구현된 욕망이 자동차의 가속 페달이라면 제동장치는 형광색의 선들이다. 플랫하고 가볍지만 확실하고 선명하게 구분된 선들은 칸을 나누고 경계를 만들었지만 그러한 경계선은 침범하지 못하게 하는 목적을 이루기보다는 침범했다는 사실을 좀 더 명확하게 보여줄 뿐이다. 당신의 욕망에 형광색의 선명한 선을 그어보라.

Throughout history, humanity has survived alongside the emotion of anxiety. Amid material and psychological anxieties, individuals pursue their desires and continue their lives, seeking confirmation of existence and a desire to know the future. They seek to alleviate these anxieties through constant self-communication, religion, repetitive rituals, and other means. In this process, practices such as astrology, divination, shamanism, and religion have emerged and persisted in our consciousness and customs to this day. I perceive the desires that repeat the cycle of creation and dissolution thousands of times in life as a will to live, and I aim to reinterpret individual desires and aspirations as a sculptural language based on shamanism and a cosmological worldview. While previous works may have focused on ambiguous objects of desire, this project places its emphasis on symbols and visualized desires created to fulfill those desires. Specifically, if the concrete manifestation of desire is represented by the acceleration pedal of a car, the brake mechanism becomes the fluorescent lines. These flat, light, but distinct and sharp lines divide spaces and create boundaries, but rather than achieving the purpose of preventing trespassing, they serve to make it even clearer that they have been trespassed.
